Terms of Service
Effective date: October 15, 2026
Plain-English summary (not a substitute for the full terms)
CurbMinder is a helpful reminder, not a guarantee. Street data comes from the City of Los Angeles and can be wrong, outdated, or incomplete. The posted signs on the street always control. You are solely responsible for reading them and following parking laws.
Alarms and notifications can fail for reasons outside our control (your phone is off, battery settings, OS limits), so don't rely on CurbMinder as your only reminder. The app is provided "as is." To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for tickets, towing, fines, or other losses, and disputes are resolved by individual arbitration.
CurbMinder is free to download, but parking alarms need a subscription or complimentary access: subscriptions are free for 1 month if you have never subscribed, then $1.99/month (U.S. price), renewing automatically until you cancel in your App Store or Google Play settings. Apple or Google bills you and handles refunds. If your subscription ends, alarms already set for your current park still go off, but new parks are not armed. See Section 7.
Sending us feedback about a parking spot is optional. If you do send it, you let us use and aggregate what you report so we can fix the data for everyone. See Section 8.
This box is a convenience only. The numbered sections below are the actual, binding agreement.
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and the individual developer who operates CurbMinder ("CurbMinder," "we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the CurbMinder application or this website (together, the "Service"), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, and able to form a binding contract to use the Service.
2. The Service is an informational tool only
CurbMinder provides estimates and reminders about street-sweeping parking restrictions in Los Angeles. It is an informational convenience only.
We do not guarantee that any schedule, block, side-of-street determination, time, or notification is accurate, current, or complete. The Service relies on data derived from City of Los Angeles and other public sources that may change without notice, may contain errors, and may not reflect temporary or recently posted restrictions. Location and side-of-street detection are estimates that can be wrong.
3. Posted signs control (your responsibility)
You are solely responsible for complying with all posted signage and applicable parking laws and regulations. Posted signs, curb markings, and instructions from authorities always take precedence over anything the Service shows you.
CurbMinder addresses street-sweeping schedules only. It does not account for tow-away zones, permit-only parking, colored-curb restrictions, meters, time limits, temporary postings (such as for construction or filming), or any other restriction. Before leaving your vehicle, read the signs.
4. No liability for tickets, towing, or fines
We are not responsible for any parking ticket, citation, towing, impound, booting, fine, penalty, or other cost, loss, or damage that you incur in connection with parking, whether or not you relied on the Service. You assume all risk associated with where and how you park.
5. Alarms and notifications may fail
The Service depends on your device and its operating system to deliver notifications and alarms. These may be delayed, silenced, or fail entirely for reasons including, without limitation: your device being powered off, out of battery, or in airplane mode; battery-optimization, "focus," "do not disturb," or power-saving settings; operating-system restrictions on background activity; permission changes; or software bugs.
You must not rely on CurbMinder as your sole or primary reminder.Use it as a supplement to your own attention to posted signs and schedules.
6. License and acceptable use
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own non-commercial parking purposes. You agree not to: copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or create derivative works of the Service except as permitted by law; resell or commercially exploit the Service; interfere with or disrupt the Service; submit feedback reports by automated, scripted, or bulk means, or otherwise flood our feedback service; attempt to bypass the device checks, rate limits, or other protections on that service; or use the Service in any unlawful manner. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
7. Subscriptions, free trial, and billing
7.1 What needs a subscription
CurbMinder is free to download. Detecting new parks and setting street-cleaning alarms and reminders for them requires an active, auto-renewing CurbMinder subscription (a "Subscription"). Onboarding, Settings, the alarm test, viewing a park the app has already resolved, and sending feedback work without one. We may change which features are included in a Subscription, and we will describe the current features in the app before you buy.
7.2 Free trial
If you have never had a CurbMinder subscription on your App Store or Google Play account, you may be offered a free trial of one (1) month. Apple or Google decides whether you are eligible, and a trial is available once per store account. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, it automatically becomes a paid Subscription and you will be charged the subscription price. Apple requires you to cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the trial to avoid a charge, and we recommend leaving the same margin on Google Play.
7.3 Price and automatic renewal
In the United States, a Subscription costs $1.99 per month, plus any applicable taxes. Prices in other countries are set in local currency and shown in the app and the store before you buy. Your Subscription renews automatically every month, and you are charged for each new month, until you cancel.
7.4 Billing, cancellation, and refunds go through Apple or Google
Subscriptions are sold, billed, and renewed by Apple through the App Store, or by Google through Google Play, under their own terms of sale, and are charged to the payment method on your store account. We do not process your payment and never receive your card or bank details.
You can cancel at any time in your App Store account settings (Settings, your name, Subscriptions) or in Google Play (Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions). The app also links to these screens from Settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then. Deleting the app does not cancel a Subscription.
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies. To request one, contact the store you bought from. Except where the store's policies or applicable law say otherwise, charges are non-refundable and we do not give credits for partial months.
7.5 Price changes
We may change the price of a Subscription. If we do, you will get advance notice through Apple or Google, as their rules and applicable law require. Where Apple, Google, or the law requires your consent to a price increase, the new price will not apply to you unless you agree to it. If you do not want to pay the new price, cancel before it takes effect.
7.6 Store subscriptions and optional accounts
CurbMinder accounts are optional and enable automatic settings sync and complimentary access where granted. A Subscription belongs to the App Store or Google Play account that bought it, and it can be restored on another device signed in to that same store account. A Subscription bought on Google Play does not unlock the iOS app, and a Subscription bought on the App Store does not unlock the Android app.
Complimentary lifetime access is separate from a paid Subscription and is available to approved accounts in Android 1.6.0 and later. Accounts on iOS are not available yet. A grant does not automatically cancel an existing Subscription. We may revoke a grant for abuse or account compromise; offline devices receive revocation when they reconnect. Signing out removes that account’s local grant.
Signing in on Android automatically backs up supported app preferences, including the selected car’s Bluetooth identifier, but never parking or driving history. You may sign out or delete your account in Settings or at our account deletion page. Deletion removes cloud settings, complimentary grants and account-linked reports; it does not cancel store billing. See the Privacy Policy for anonymous report receipts, legacy app versions and retention.
7.7 If your Subscription ends
If your Subscription ends for any reason, such as cancellation, a payment that fails after the store's grace period, or a refund, CurbMinder stops detecting new parks and stops setting alarms and reminders for them.Alarms and reminders already scheduled for your current park when the Subscription ends are not canceled, and still go off as planned. The app tells you with a notification when this happens and shows a reminder on its home screen until you subscribe again. While Apple or Google gives you a grace period to fix a failed payment, your alarms stay on and you are asked to update your payment method.
Once your Subscription has ended, CurbMinder will not remind you about any later park. Sections 3 and 5 continue to apply: posted signs control, and you must not rely on CurbMinder as your sole reminder.
8. Feedback you submit
The Service lets you tell us whether a parking result was right or wrong, and optionally correct it. Sending a report is always your choice. The app shows you what a report contains before it is sent, and lets you send it anonymously or linked to your signed-in account. What a report includes, how long we keep it, and how to have it deleted are described in ourPrivacy Policy.
8.1 License to use what you send
When you send a report, you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, store, reproduce, modify, and create derivative works of its contents in order to operate and improve the Service, including correcting and enriching our street-sweeping data and combining your report with other reports into aggregated or statistical results. We may publish aggregated or de-identified results, but we will not publish your name, email address, or the coordinates you sent.
8.2 What you promise about a report
You agree that the information in a report is, to the best of your knowledge, accurate, based on what you actually observed at that location; that you have the right to send it; and that it contains no personal information about anyone other than yourself. Do not put another person's name, address, contact details, license plate, or any other personal information in the notes field. Do not send anything unlawful, infringing, threatening, or abusive.
8.3 We are not obligated to act on a report
Reports help us prioritize fixes, but we do not promise to review, respond to, or act on any particular report, or to correct any particular block. A correction you make is applied to your own reminders on your own device whether or not you send it to us.
8.4 Rate limits and abuse
The feedback service is rate limited, currently to 100 reports per device per day, and each installation of the app is verified as genuine before its reports are accepted. We may change these limits at any time. If reports from an installation are automated, falsified, abusive, or otherwise degrade the data, we may reject them, revoke that installation's ability to send reports, and delete the reports it has already sent, without notice. Revoking feedback access does not otherwise affect your use of the app.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," with all faults and without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage of trade. We do not warrant that the service will be accurate, reliable, uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that any defect will be corrected. No advice or information, whether oral or written, obtained from the service creates any warranty not expressly stated in these terms.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will CurbMinder or its operator be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, or for any parking tickets, citations, towing, fines, or penalties, arising out of or relating to the service or these terms, whether based on contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or any other theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the service or these terms will not exceed the greater of (a) ten U.S. dollars ($10) or (b) the total amount you paid, if any, for the service, including subscription fees, in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you. In that case, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
11. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless CurbMinder and its operator from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your use or misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any parking law or posted restriction, the content of any feedback report you submit, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
12. Binding arbitration and class-action waiver
Please read this section carefully, it affects your legal rights.
12.1 Agreement to arbitrate
You and CurbMinder agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will be resolved bybinding individual arbitration, rather than in court, except as set out below. The arbitration will be administered by either JAMS or the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under their applicable rules, and judgment on the award may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.
12.2 Class-action waiver
You and CurbMinder agree that each may bring claims against the other only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims or preside over any form of a representative or class proceeding.
12.3 Small-claims carve-out
Either party may bring an individual claim in a small-claims court that has jurisdiction, instead of arbitration, so long as the matter stays in that court and proceeds only on an individual basis.
12.4 30-day right to opt out
You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing[email protected] within30 days of first accepting these Terms, stating your intent to opt out. Opting out will not affect any other part of these Terms.
13. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to the arbitration provisions above, any dispute not subject to arbitration will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service and uninstall the app at any time. Uninstalling does not cancel a Subscription; cancel it with Apple or Google as described in Section 7.4. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, or to the feedback service alone, at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including if we believe you have violated these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including Sections 2 through 5 and 7 through 16, will survive.
15. Changes to these terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" above and provide notice within the app or on this website, which may include asking you to accept the updated Terms again before you continue. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.
16. Severability, waiver, and entire agreement
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, that provision will be limited or severed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service.
